SkillsUSA is a national organization dedicated to supporting students, teachers and industry to ensure that America has a skilled workforce. Each year, students attending CTE schools throughout the state and country compete in their respective fields ranging from Automotive Technology to Welding & Fabrication. MCST has been a participating chapter for over 25 years, sending hundreds of students to the state competition in Bangor. Below you can see the 2016-2017 state medalists including Matthew Shaw and Nicholas Johnson who went on to win Bronze at the National Level.
The state competition is not only an opportunity for students to hone their skills, network and collaborate but it opens the door to scholarships and many career opportunities. For the truly dedicated students who receive a gold medal at the state competition, they are given an opportunity to compete at the national competition in June. Some after that, may even be given the chance to compete on the U.S. team in the World competition.
